Serving Our Communities For More Than 50 Years

We’ve made homeownership a reality for thousands of individuals and families in our region. We’d love the opportunity to serve you.

A History of Growth and Service

Bell Bank began more than 50 years ago as State Bank of Fargo, with a single location in a north Fargo shopping center. Today, Bell is the largest independently owned bank in the upper Midwest, and one of the largest in the nation, thanks to our many loyal customers, whose confidence in us has led to growth and opportunity.

Our mortgage services extend far beyond the Red River Valley. In 2011, Bell Mortgage, including locations in the Twin Cities and Phoenix, became a part of what was then State Bank & Trust.

One year later, the entire company rebranded as Bell State Bank & Trust, taking the more unique Bell name as a known and respected regional brand. In 2016 we simplified our name to Bell Bank, with the mortgage division becoming Bell Bank Mortgage.

Independent Family Ownership

As one of the country’s largest privately owned banks, Bell embraces a simple yet powerful commitment to our employees and customers.

Our core values of family, unequaled service and giving back are at the heart of what we do. Employees and customers alike are treated like family, and Bell is recognized as a top place to work and to do business. We're a place where people matter, and results matter. That's the Bell difference.

Supporting Our Neighbors and Communities

As part of our Pay It Forward tradition, Bell employees carefully consider the many needs in our communities and our world.

Each year, every full-time employee receives $1,000 and every part-time employee $500 to give as they choose to individuals, families or organizations in need. To date, Pay It Forward has empowered more than $12 million in giving.

Together, we can change the world one good deed at a time. Learn more about the program and watch giving stories on our Pay It Forward website.
